CIVIC, in collaboration with community advocates and agency partners, supported the designation of the Public Street waterfront as an official public right of way, which codified community access to the Providence waterfront. Building on the site designation, CIVIC facilitated a planning and design process focused on implementating practical amenities and future focused improvements that support public use of the site, while creating spatial transformations that are consistent with the Climate Justice Plan and advance the city’s resilience goals.

This project included extensive engagement with a diverse group of stakeholders, including the RIDEM, PVD Planning, PVD Public Works, the Racial and Environmental Justice Coalition, and many others.
