The Rhode Island School Building Authority (SBA) oversees the planning, funding, and delivery of school facility improvements across the state, supporting safe, modern, and equitable learning environments for all students.CIVIC has collaborated closely with the SBA and a range of state partners to deliver multiple research initiatives supporting long-term policy and investment decisions. CIVIC conducted post-occupancy evaluations of newly completed school facilities, assessing how well they meet the goals set by architects and policymakers. Building on this work, CIVIC is leading a cost-effectiveness study of statewide school facilities bonds and a comprehensive assessment of pre-K facility needs. These efforts combine extensive data collection, analysis, and stakeholder engagement to better understand how policy changes translate into improved educational environments across Rhode Island.
